IT’S GAME ON!
“Senior Day” Baseball Contest Between N.R. and Lynnfield
Scheduled For August 1, 2020
Taking to heart the words of the legendary Yogi Berra — “It ain’t over ’till it’s over” — the baseball players in North Reading High School’s Class of 2020 will get to hear the cry of “Play Ball” one more time.
With the support of the North Reading Diamond Club, comprised of Hornet baseball alumni, an exhibition game featuring NRHS seniors and their Lynnfield High School counterparts has been scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 1, at North Reading’s Carey Field. First pitch will take place at 10:30 a.m.
The Diamond Club decided to forego its 44th annual Alumni Game in favor of this special matchup, believing it was important for the seniors, who saw their 2020 season canceled as a result of COVID-19, to play one last time with their classmates and have a positive final memory about their high school baseball experience.
Each senior from both North Reading and Lynnfield will be recognized prior to the game, and all proceeds raised will be donated to the programs’ respective scholarship funds.
The goal is to attract a large crowd from both towns, along with alumni, to support the kids on this special day and create a memorable sendoff for them as they end their high school careers and start the next chapter of their lives.

Monday, June 8th 2020 is the 50th anniversary of North Reading H.S. baseball winning their second consecutive class C state title, defeating Ashland 6-0. Junior Peter Quinlan pitched a complete game 9 inning shut out, striking out 11. Combined record of the ’69 and ’70 championship teams was 45-2, putting NRHS baseball on the map.
Thank you Coach Carey for all you’ve done and continue to do for your players. You are truly amazing. |
